According to Qichacha data, Nantong Beixin (formerly known as Nantong Beixin New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.) was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. The company’s legal representative is Cheng Zhifang, with a registered capital of approximately RMB 67.4073 million, and it is a enterprise engaged in the recycling and reuse of power batteries.
Nantong Beixin primarily engages in the recycling and utilization of power batteries, extracting critical energy metals such as nickel, cobalt, lithium, and manganese to produce battery-grade nickel sulfate, cobalt sulfate, lithium carbonate, and manganese sulfate. These products are used to manufacture lithium-ion battery precursors and cathode materials, serving sectors such as new-energy vehicles and energy storage. The company’s shareholders include GAC Capital, Chendao Capital, China Merchants Bank International, InnoVision Capital, Qingxin Capital, and Nantong Science and Technology Investment Group, among others.

According to reports, the Nantong Beixin plant where the fire occurred is a comprehensive utilization project for end-of-life power batteries from new-energy vehicles and a green manufacturing facility for cathode materials, operated by Jiangsu Lixun New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the company (hereinafter referred to as “Lixun New Energy”).
The project broke ground on April 26, 2023, at the Qidong Life and Health Industrial Park, with a total investment of RMB 3.076 billion. Upon completion, it is expected to annually recycle and dispose of 300,000 metric tons of end-of-life lithium-ion power batteries from new energy vehicles, producing approximately 200,000 metric tons of finished battery precursors and cathode materials, as well as other recycled materials.

According to available information, the project is invested in and developed by LiXun New Energy, with its primary focus on the recycling and utilization of metals such as nickel, cobalt, manganese, and lithium from retired power lithium batteries used in new-energy vehicles.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Dai Xumin, General Manager of Lixun New Energy, stated that the project—a vertically integrated industrial chain spanning the dismantling and crushing of end-of-life power and energy-storage batteries, up to material recovery and product manufacturing, with a total capacity of 300,000 tonnes—is scheduled for completion and commissioning by the end of 2024. Furthermore, during 2025–2026, the project will be well positioned to handle the first peak in the retirement of domestically retired power batteries.
